FREDDIE LIGHTBOURNE IS THE NEW MR. CARIBBEAN BAHAMAS 2009 

Freddie Lightbourne, a law enforcement officer and father, captured the title of the fastest, fittest, and strongest Bahamian man for 2009/2010, by winning the Mr. Caribbean Bahamas Fitness Challenge and Physique Competition on Sunday, July 26th, 2009, in the Independence Ballroom, Sheraton Cable Beach Resort, Nassau, Bahamas. 
 
Freddie also won the Bally Total Fitness Challenge and Best Photo Shoot awards. 
 
Vincent Laschiazza-Paul was the first runner-up and Terrance Kelly was second runner-up. Robert Farquahson won the Best Physique Award and Vincent Laschiazza-Paul won the Best Personality and Style, Most Popular, and MCB FanChoice Awards. 

The other finalists in the competition were Roosevelt Joseph, Kendrick Tynes, and Robert Farquahson. 

The finalists competed in the Bally Total Fitness Challenge, on Saturday, July 25th, 2009, and then competed in the Physique, Personality and Style, and Interview Competitions on Sunday, July 26th, 2009. 
 
Under the theme, “Area Code 242: War Against Violence", the six finalists opened the Final Night Competition with a dynamic fitness routine with Bodine Johnson, guest artist, Donovan Rolle, Mr. Caribbean Bahamas 2006, and Stephen Robinson, Mr Caribbean Bahamas 2005 and Choreographer of the show.

 
The event was hosted by Earl Cole, the winner of CBS Survivor Fiji and voted one of People's Magazine's Sexiest Bachelors, and Bodine Johnson, a local female entertainer and radio personality. Guest performances included Tada, Travis Clarke, Bahamian Idol Winner, and Metellus Chipman, Mr. Caribbean International 2006. 
 
The distinguished panel of judges for the Final Night Competition were: Patrick Tardieu, CEO and President of Bogosse (international men's fashion design line), Cecile Raubenheimer, Senior Director of Group Marketing-Atlantis, Juan Dominic Dorsey, an exercise kinesiologist, fitness trainer, and former Mr. Caribbean USA, Naomi Ricketts, General Manager of Bally Total Fitness, Elton Anderson, an international lifestyles and fashion photographer, and Tinnyse Johnson, Miss Bahamas World 2008. 

Preliminary judges for the Personality and Style Competition were Owen Bethel, President and CEO of Montague Securities International, Yvette Bethel, President and CEO of Organizational Soul, a human resource consulting company, Brynda Knowles, a local fashion designer and makeup artist, and Shawn Forbes, Vice President of a Swiss private bank, attorney, and local author. 
 
Joanna Brown, Miss Bahamas World 2009, presented the awards to the competitors during the Final Night Competition 
 
As Mr. Caribbean Bahamas 2009/2010, Freddie will win over $5,000 in cash prizes and awards, and will represent The Bahamas in the 2009 Mr. Caribbean International Competition, October 5-12
th, in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. 
 
Part proceeds from the competition will aid The Bahamas Crisis Centre, and Freddie will be the official spokesperson for “M.V.P: Men for Violence Prevention”, a domestic violence prevention initiative launched by the Mr. Caribbean Bahamas Organization.
